Renault, France’s second-largest carmaker, is working with India’s Bajaj Auto to create a competitor to Nano. It would also sell for about $2,500.
Before it goes on sale in the U.S., Tata Motors may sell the Nano in Europe starting in 2011. Chairman Ratan Tata in March said it was too early to comment on a breakeven for the vehicle.
